Why Join

A voluntary position, with perks

By joining our staff team you agree that this is a voluntary position. We understand and accept that life always comes first, and we make it very easy to take an LOA and step back when you need to without needing a reason. However, we do expect all staff to remain active consistently when not on LOA.

Requirements

Moderation

Trial Moderator

  • Have at least 300 hours on Rust
  • Have at least 50 hours on our servers
  • Have at least 20 hours on our servers in the past 30 days
Administration

Trial Administrator

  • Have at least 500 hours on Rust
  • Have previous/relevant administration experience
Everyone

All Applicants

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • You must have no bans on record in the past 30 days
  • You must have no chat offenses on record in the past 14 days, however we may deny you if we deem you to be overly toxic or just not a good fit
  • You must not have any VAC bans in the past 180 days

The Staff Manager may waive any of the listed requirements for an applicant on their relevant server, aside from PP1E or PP1F.

Rust Staff Policies

Know the rules

Every staff member is expected to know and follow these policies. Read them before you apply.

Conduct

  • You are not to use your staff powers in a manner that is inconsistent with policy. This is a form of abuse and will result in a demotion/removal from staff, blacklist and potentially an in-game ban.
  • Never use your staff powers to gain an advantage in combat.
  • Abusing glitches or cheating on any Icefuse servers will result in an immediate removal, permanent blacklist and ban.
  • Never enforce rules not listed on the Official Server Rules.
  • Always follow the Chain of Command.
  • Higher ranking staff always have the final say. Never argue with a higher up’s decision unless they themselves are breaking a rule. If that is the case, contact their superior immediately.
  • Do not teleport or use any staff commands on any staff members without HA+ approval.
  • Being an Icefuse staff member is a privilege. You are here to assist the players of our community. Do not flex your rank.
  • Never disrespect or threaten any other staff members or community members.
  • Remain professional at all times. Reacting or responding to negative comments is forbidden. Do not get involved, simply ignore it or have the user reported.
  • Breaking rules on any official Icefuse platforms can result in staff punishments.
  • Always use common sense when playing, moderating, and/or administrating on the servers. If ever in question about policy, contact your next step in your chain of command.
  • Staff members are responsible for who they allow on their teams while playing on the servers, and should conduct a review of all players added to their team. Playing with a known cheater can result in a demotion/removal from staff, blacklist and potentially an in-game ban.
  • Any staff members intoxicated to the point of their administrative decisions being impaired must NOT perform any staff duties until sober. Failure to follow this rule may result in suspension, demotion, or removal in severe cases.
  • All staff members are required to be on our official Icefuse Networks TeamSpeak while playing or staffing on any of our servers.

Bias & Recusal

  • Staff members are to recuse themselves from any interviews, reports, or administrative situations involving members who they have a personal rapport or bias towards. The staff members may provide feedback on the discussed member, however they will not conduct interviews, accept/deny applications, or render punishments to that member.

Leave of Absence & Activity

  • Staff members who need a break from their duties may post a Leave of Absence (LOA) for up to 14 days per month, and a maximum of 14 consecutive days. If the staff member needs an extension beyond that, it requires approval from the Staff Manager or above.
  • While a staff member is on LOA, they are excused from activity requirements and any responsibilities they have from their teams.
  • A staff member may be taken off LOA forcefully by their Staff Manager if they are abusing the system to avoid tasks or punishments.
  • Repeated weeks of low to no activity without communication can result in punishments up to and including removal from staff.
  • For LOA longer than 14 days, any permissions within BattleMetrics, in-game, and the Public Discord will be removed until the staff member has returned from LOA.

Administration Team

  • They may not use commands on a player they or their team is PvP’ing with or raiding, before exhausting all efforts to get another administrator to do the investigation.
  • They are not to go into any bases that are not part of their investigation.
  • They must leave administrative mode immediately after completing their investigation.
  • Always have evidence before executing a punishment.
  • Be consistent and always do your best work.

Confidentiality

  • Releasing information from private staff documents/discords including, but not limited to, staff documents, HA+ conversations, or administrative reports can result in a demotion or removal from staff. Serious cases may even incur a staff blacklist or server bans.

Applications, Resignations & Returning Staff

  • Members who are denied/removed from any of our staff teams are ineligible to apply for any server for 30 days. Members who resign from staff must wait 14 days before applying for a staff team again.
  • Former staff members may use their most recent old application or change up their most recent application to apply for the staff team where they hold a returning rank.
  • Former staff members will be able to skip the full training process if the training process has not changed. Instead they will receive a much shorter refresher of their rank and responsibilities.
  • Once a resignation’s posted date is reached, the resignation is final. The resignation can be voided anytime before the posted date.
